Meet the DriveWise Team

  • Lisa Bauer

    Instructor

I’m a proud Colorado native, raised in the mountains, with a deep love for the outdoors and sports. My husband and I met while water skiing at a local lake, and after getting married, we settled down in the countryside. Together, we have three grown sons who live nearby, and we cherish the family-oriented ranching lifestyle we’ve built.

As a retired educator, I spent many years teaching junior high and high school math, coaching volleyball, and serving as an Athletic Director and Administrator. Teaching has always been my passion, so when the opportunity arose to teach students how to drive, I eagerly embraced it. Now, as a certified driving instructor for the past four years, I’m excited to help students with their 30-hour Driver's Ed classes, Behind the Wheel instruction, or driving tests. It’s incredibly rewarding to continue sharing my love for teaching while helping others gain the skills they need for the road.

  • Kevin Beaber

    Instructor

Hi, I’m Kevin Beaber. I grew up in Boulder and graduated from Fairview High School. After 37 years as a music teacher—starting in Haxtun and spending most of my career in Crowley County—I retired and have lived in Ordway for the past 34 years.

I’m a proud father of two and a grandfather to a 20-year-old grandson. While I love dogs and aquarium fish, my passion for travel keeps me from having pets—though I enjoy dog-sitting my son’s beagle.

My teaching focused on secondary instrumental and vocal music, with additional work in guitar and student leadership. I’ve also served as National President of the American School Band Directors Association and President of the Colorado Music Educators Association.

Since retiring, I’ve reconnected with my trumpet and now perform with several community bands. I also work as a driving instructor and licensed tester, continuing to serve students and my community in new ways.

  • Eric McRae

    Instructor

Eric graduated from Otero Junior College before earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Northern Colorado. He has been a certified driving instructor and has taught driver's education since 1986. At DriveWise Academy, our mission is to provide exceptional driver training to Otero County and the surrounding areas, ensuring students receive the highest quality education on the road. Additionally, we offer driving tests to anyone in need, not just students, to help ensure that all drivers are fully prepared and certified.

  • Alisha Miell

    Instructor

Hi, I’m Alisha Miell. I am a proud Colorado native, born and raised in the Arkansas Valley, and I have deep roots in this community. Education is my passion, and I currently teach first grade, where I have spent years helping students build confidence, responsibility, and strong character. I believe these same qualities are essential for becoming a safe, respectful, and responsible driver.

Giving back to my community is very important to me, and I value every opportunity to support and guide young people as they reach important milestones in their lives.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy camping, traveling, sports, and music. My husband and I met over 20 years ago and have built a life centered on family, community, and a quieter pace of living. We live in Cheraw, where we have raised our three daughters. Our oldest daughter is currently attending college, while our two younger daughters are a senior and a junior in high school.

I am proud to serve the community that raised me and am committed to providing students with the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to become safe, responsible drivers who are prepared for the road ahead.
